What is MOPS?
"MOPS is a grassroots movement that believes moms are world influencers.
We also believe that incubating hearts and giving just-because-hugs can change the course of history. That’s why we connect moms all over the world to a community of women, in their own neighborhoods, who meet together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood. MOPS groups are rallying women to be more honest, to feel more equipped and to find our identity by journeying along side one another.
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, and by preschoolers we mean kiddos from birth through kindergarten. We know it's a little confusing so let's just stick with "MOPS."
We are moms, and we believe that better moms make a better world."
I was really interested in starting my own support group for young moms. I did lots of research on how to start my own group in the area. I had a lot of trouble with that so I searched up on teen groups that already existed in our area I did not find anything but I did find out about MOPs which I has heard something about when I was pregnant. I sent them an email and I met with Leigh Anne Rufener and she had me come and check it out. Leigh Anne told me that she and the other directors at MOPs had tried in previous years to start a teen MOPs program but it never worked out. When I visited the group all of the women were older, in relationships or married. I felt like I didn't belong. Other than that I loved it and had great conversations with the women. I went back to the next session and the PRC shared and Leigh Anne had me share my testimony. It took me a lot to share in front of those women but I did it and afterwards a lot of the women said that they needed to hear that or that it really impacted them.
