Make a pamphlet for young moms to use with resources:
When I found out that I was pregnant I was given many booklets, brochures, and business cards to places and that could help me. I want to help moms by giving them something that is useful to someone in the teenage range and that has all of the resources and in one place. I will include in my booklet a short letter from myself, my testimony, areas where they can write down their frustrations and doubts.
Journaling, My testimony, and experiences as a new young mom:
I journaled to document some of my days and experiences as a new mom. I asked some of my family members to write something up about how they felt when they felt when they found out that I was pregnant and how they feel about it now.
I believe that even if we are hesitant to share our story because we think we will be judged we need to because it is good for us and there is always someone who can relate. There is always someone who our story can benefit. I had the opportunity to share my testimony during this year with the moms at MOPs and afterwards lots of moms older than I came up to me and told me that it really benefited them and that they needed to hear it. I have had some many hard days and weeks as a mom. Times when I just wish I had someone to voice my frustrations to. I wrote down in my journal a lot of times when I just wanted to scream or times when I wished I had someone to just take Noah for a few hours while I tried to get a single assignment done.
Attend MOPs and look into starting a teen MOPs program:
I searched teen mom groups in the area online and I found the groups called MOPs which stands for "Moms Of Preschoolers". A few years back the director of MOPs had tried to start a teen MOPs group but it did not work out and I think that the girls in our community could really benefit from something like this. I met with Leigh Anne Rufener and she had me come and check it out. All of the women were older, in relationships or married. I felt like I didn't belong. Other than that I loved it and had great conversations with the women. I went back to the next session and the PRC shared and Leight Anne had me share my testimony. It took me a lot to share in front of those women.
